Quantity Surveyor – Commercial & Refurbishment Projects

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in Aston. The role involves managing cost estimation, tendering and on‑site measurement for a variety of refurbishment and new‑build projects, particularly within the painting and decorating sector.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare CVR valuations and cost estimates for contracts.
• Develop and apply schedules of rates across projects.
• Measure and quantify works on‑site, producing accurate bills of quantities.
• Manage direct labour teams, including timesheet administration and productivity tracking.
• Support tender preparation, estimating and subcontractor coordination.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure cost control and profitability.

Required profile

• Honesty, integrity and a strong team‑oriented mindset.
• Residence within easy commuting distance of Birmingham.
• Formal qualifications or recognised training in quantity surveying.
• Experience working with direct labour crews in painting, decorating, brickwork, plastering or roofing.
• Proven background in tendering, estimating and refurbishment projects.
