Quantity Surveyor – Highways & Civil Engineering

About the role

Gold Group Ltd is seeking a proactive Quantity Surveyor to manage a portfolio of highways and civil engineering projects across the South West. You will work on schemes ranging from £1m to £12m, providing commercial leadership and ensuring projects deliver on cost, time and quality targets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project budgets, cost forecasts and financial reporting.
• Procure subcontractors and administer commercial contracts.
• Prepare and process subcontractor payments.
• Handle variations, change control and compensation events.
• Produce accurate cost reports and commercial forecasts.
• Support client applications and final account agreements.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with project teams, clients and supply‑chain partners.

Required profile

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor on highways, civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities projects.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project controls.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of commercial decisions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ambition to progress to a Senior Quantity Surveyor role.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NEC contracts.
