Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Our client, a well‑established construction firm in York, is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of multiple projects from pre‑construction through to final delivery. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will ensure strong financial control and add value across a portfolio of high‑profile schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of commercial management and financial performance for several construction projects.
• Manage projects from pre‑construction stages through to completion and final account.
• Act as the commercial lead, delivering cost control, reporting and financial governance.
• Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to support successful delivery.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and commercial performance to maximise profitability.
• Prepare and review valuations, variations, cost reports and financial forecasts.
• Support contract administration and commercial decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Previous experience acting as a commercial lead.
• Degree‑qualified with at least 4 years relevant experience, or non‑degree qualified with equivalent experience.
