Quantity Surveyor – Small Works Estimator

About the role

A reputable construction company is seeking a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to manage small‑works projects across sectors such as education, commercial, retail, leisure and healthcare. The role is permanent and based in Exeter, offering the chance to oversee commercial aspects and switch to estimating as required.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate new projects using streamlined procedures.
• Handle material procurement and off‑site services efficiently.
• Collaborate on work package content sheets within the project team.
• Manage subcontract invitations and assess tender responses.
• Prioritise cash flow through timely valuation, invoicing and payment collection.
• Support final account settlements, including variations and dispute resolution.
• Contribute to accurate CVR reports and forecasts.
• Review tender inquiries for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain correspondence and tender documentation across the supply chain.
• Analyse project costs and present comprehensive price submissions.

Required profile

• Previous project experience in a similar Quantity Surveyor or Estimator role.
• Design & Build (D&B) experience.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying (desirable).
• Relevant driving licence.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Packages.
