Quarry Operative – Fixed Crushing Plant

About the role

We are seeking a Fixed Crushing Plant Operative to join our team at Glenwherry Quarry in Ballymena. The role supports extraction, crushing and screening of stone products, ensuring safe and efficient operation of plant and associated equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all duties safely and comply with safety policies and procedures.
• Complete daily pre‑start checks and safety inspections.
• Prepare the quarry face, load material, feed and control the crushing plant, and assist the Quarry Foreperson as required.
• Manage aggregate stocks, keeping them clean and correctly positioned.
• Operate a loading shovel to build stockpiles and load trucks or fixed plant.
• Operate a dump truck to move material between the loading zone, stockpiles and the crushing plant.
• Refuel all plant equipment each day.
• Assist with minor repairs and cleaning of equipment.
• Inspect, clean and maintain plant daily, reporting faults to supervisors.
• Ensure environmental standards are maintained and prevent spillages.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.

Required profile

• Experience operating quarry machinery (fixed or mobile).
• CSR safety card or relevant safety training.
• Experience driving dumper trucks.
• Valid UK driving licence.
