Quarry Operative (Full-time)

About the role

Breedon Group plc is seeking a reliable Quarry Operative to join its Wrexham quarry team. This hands‑on, full‑time position involves extracting, processing and handling aggregates while maintaining a strong focus on safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mobile and fixed plant such as dump trucks, loading shovels, crushers and screeners safely and efficiently.
• Assist in the extraction, crushing and processing of raw materials to meet production targets.
• Carry out routine checks, cleaning and basic maintenance on machinery and equipment.
• Load and unload materials for transport or further processing.
• Follow daily work schedules and production instructions from supervisors.
• Conduct regular safety checks and report any hazards, defects or incidents.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Keep the quarry site clean, safe and organised.
• Support site inspections and operational audits as required.

Required profile

• Competence in operating plant or machinery (e.g., loading shovel, excavator, dumper truck).
• Basic mechanical knowledge for simple maintenance tasks.
• Understanding of health and safety practices and willingness to follow procedures.
• Reliable, punctual, self‑motivated and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Flexibility to adapt to different tasks and shift patterns.

Required skills

• Operation of mobile and fixed plant (dump trucks, loading shovels, crushers, screeners).
• CPCS card (advantageous).
• MPQC card (advantageous).
• Basic mechanical maintenance.
