Rail Survey Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Survey Engineer with a strong background in railway infrastructure surveys to join our growing team. The role is hybrid, combining site, office and home working across various UK locations, and supports major rail projects by delivering accurate survey data.

Key responsibilities

• Lead topographical and rail infrastructure surveys on multiple sites.
• Set up, maintain and manage survey control networks, including GNSS and SnakeGrid transformations.
• Process and validate point‑cloud data and produce high‑quality CAD drawings.
• Review survey outputs for technical compliance and quality assurance.
• Provide technical advice to project teams and coordinate with third‑party survey providers.
• Contribute to the improvement of survey methods, standards and best practice.

Required profile

• Significant experience in railway surveying and leading track surveys.
• Strong knowledge of topographical surveying techniques and GNSS control networks.
• Experience with point‑cloud processing, SnakeGrid, and CAD software.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification and ability to obtain BPSS clearance.
