RAN Transport Designer

About the role

The RAN Transport Designer will shape how radio equipment integrates with Virgin Media O2’s transmission and transport networks. You will work across design, test and trial phases to deliver robust, scalable solutions ready for live deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high‑level and low‑level designs and reference configurations for RAN transport.
• Collaborate with suppliers, architects, test teams and operations to validate designs.
• Support technology evolution and migration of RAN and transport networks.
• Participate in change‑control processes and ensure smooth rollout of new solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a technical network design role within a network operator or equipment supplier.
• Strong knowledge of 2G, 4G and 5G RAN architectures, including traditional and virtualised RAN.
• Solid understanding of packet networking fundamentals such as Ethernet, IP, QoS and transport protocols.
• Ability to produce high‑level and low‑level designs and configurations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex technical concepts.
