RCV Technician

About the role

Our client, a reputable transport company in Preston, is looking for an experienced RCV Technician to join their engineering team. You will work on a variety of RCV vehicles, providing maintenance, repairs and diagnostics in a modern depot environment.

Key responsibilities

• Service, diagnose, and repair RCV vehicles, including sweepers, tractors and 7.5‑tonne units.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure safety compliance.
• Complete defect sheets, job cards and compliance documentation accurately.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults promptly.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and work flexibly across shifts.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an RCV, plant, PCV, HGV or LCV technician.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy/PCV Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Full UK driving licence; PCV Category D desirable (training may be provided).
• IRTEC accreditation or MOT tester licence is advantageous.

Required skills

• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic system knowledge.
• Proficiency with vehicle diagnostic equipment.
