Receipt & Distribution Operative – Hospital Logistics

About the role

We are looking for an organised Receipt & Distribution Operative to join the Materials Management Team at William Harvey Hospital. You will act as a logistical lifeline, ensuring clinical staff receive the supplies and equipment they need to provide high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Check, receive and distribute incoming medical goods and equipment to wards and departments.
• Assist with stock re‑ordering, put‑away and maintain accurate inventory using Electronic Demand Capture (EDC) systems.
• Operate pallet trucks and roll cages safely to move heavy and temperature‑controlled loads.
• Serve as the first point of contact for clinical and support staff, handling queries and ensuring smooth supply‑chain flow.
• Maintain Goods Received Notes, process returns and comply with Health & Safety, COSHH and Manual Handling regulations.

Required profile

• Proactive with strong organisational abilities and the capacity to work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with a customer‑focused attitude.
• Basic education to GCSE level (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
• Physical capability to handle heavy loads in a busy hospital environment.
• Previous experience in store‑keeping, supply chain or hospital logistics is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Electronic Demand Capture (EDC) systems.
• Ability to operate pallet trucks and roll cages safely.
