Recovery Coordinator – Substance Misuse Service

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Recovery Coordinator to join a well‑established substance‑misuse service in Lewisham. This full‑time, fixed‑term position (up to 3 months) will cover staff absence and involves working across the Primary Care Recovery Service and GP Shared Care Hubs, supporting adults with a range of substance‑misuse needs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of service users with alcohol, non‑opiate, combined alcohol and non‑opiate, and opiate (OST) support needs.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop recovery plans, perform risk assessments and carry out regular reviews.
• Provide structured one‑to‑one interventions and ongoing key‑working sessions.
• Collaborate with GPs, healthcare professionals, partner agencies and multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure documentation meets organisational and clinical standards.
• Safeguard vulnerable adults and manage risk appropriately.
• Promote engagement, retention and positive treatment outcomes.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Recovery Coordinator, Recovery Worker, Substance Misuse Worker, Drug & Alcohol Worker or similar role.
• Experience supporting clients with alcohol, non‑opiate, combined alcohol and non‑opiate, and opiate (OST) treatment.
• Strong knowledge of harm reduction, recovery planning, safeguarding and risk management.
• Excellent communication, assessment and caseload management abilities.
• Ability to work quickly and effectively in a fast‑paced community service.
