Recovery Specialist – Out‑of‑Hours Mental Health Support

About the role

Southdown’s Staying Well service delivers out‑of‑hours crisis mental health support in Eastbourne. As a Recovery Specialist you will work in a social‑setting or Crisis Café model, helping clients manage mental health crises and build resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide face‑to‑face mental health support to clients during evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Use the Recovery Model to develop safety plans and connect clients with appropriate services and resources.
• Work collaboratively with Southdown and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust staff.
• Attend mandatory face‑to‑face training sessions in Lewes four to five times per year.
• Maintain accurate records of client interactions and outcomes.

Required profile

• Previous experience in roles such as Mental Health Support Worker, Support Worker, Social Prescriber, Case Manager, Social Worker, Care Coordinator, Mental Health Specialist or Service Coordinator.
• Willingness and ability to work bank holidays, evenings and weekends.
• Commitment to attend regular training sessions during standard office hours.
• Passion for delivering recovery‑focused support and helping clients achieve their goals.
