Recovery Worker – Substance Misuse Support

About the role

As a Recovery Worker you will join an integrated healthcare team delivering high‑quality, client‑centred support to adults with drug and alcohol dependency. You will use both harm‑reduction and abstinence‑based approaches to help service users progress through their recovery journey.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of service users, conducting comprehensive assessments and developing SMART care plans.
• Deliver structured one‑to‑one and group psychosocial interventions.
• Collaborate with housing, employment, probation, healthcare and community rehabilitation partners to ensure continuity of care.
• Record outcomes, monitor performance against organisational and commissioner targets, and produce accurate case documentation.
• Provide flexible coverage, including evenings, weekends and travel to multiple service locations as required.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in substance misuse services and a solid understanding of drug and alcohol dependency challenges.
• Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, develop care plans and deliver motivational interviewing techniques.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, diversity and the wider recovery agenda.
• Strong organisational and IT skills with the capacity to manage a caseload and meet performance targets.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with a diverse range of service users.
