Recreation Assistant – Lifeguard

About the role

GLL is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join the Chipping Norton Leisure Centre as Recreation Assistants with a focus on lifeguarding. This role combines pool supervision, customer service, and general centre upkeep, offering a pathway to a long‑term career in leisure and community services.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate regularly across pool areas, supervising swimmers and ensuring safety.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pool environment and surrounding facilities.
• Set up and manage equipment for pool and other centre activities.
• Provide first‑class customer service and address visitor queries.
• Support team operations by preparing studios, gyms, and sports halls for various programmes.

Required profile

• Calm under pressure with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine focus on customer service.
• Team‑player attitude and a proactive, can‑do mindset.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards.

Required skills

• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) – current training records preferred.
