Recreation Craftsperson – Forest of Dean

About the role
The Recreation Craftsperson supports the recreation team across the Forest of Dean, ensuring visitor sites and car parks remain clean, tidy and safe. Working from Beechenhurst, you will help create enjoyable outdoor experiences for the public while protecting the natural environment.
Key responsibilities
- Collect and dispose of rubbish from bins daily and conduct litter‑picking across visitor areas.
- Perform general maintenance tasks to keep facilities fit for purpose.
- Unlock site gates and barriers each morning according to a seasonal schedule.
- Work a seven‑day rota that includes alternate weekends, public holidays and occasional out‑of‑hours events.
- Support the recreation team in delivering a high‑quality visitor experience.
Required profile
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong team‑oriented attitude.
- Willingness to follow health and safety procedures.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and occasional evenings.

What we offer
- Salary of £26,959 per annum.
- Average 28.97% employer pension contribution (Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme).
- 25 days holiday, increasing to 30 days with service.
