Recruitment and Compliance Coordinator

About the role

This position supports an independent school’s People team, overseeing the full recruitment lifecycle while ensuring all pre‑employment checks meet the highest safeguarding standards. The role blends recruitment expertise with a strong focus on compliance and candidate experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment for academic and support staff, from advert creation to offer.
• Coordinate interviews, assessment days and maintain clear candidate communications.
• Conduct pre‑employment checks including DBS, right‑to‑work, references and overseas verifications.
• Ensure compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and safer recruitment guidelines.
• Support onboarding, induction and maintain accurate recruitment records.
• Collaborate closely with hiring managers to deliver a seamless recruitment experience.

Required profile

• Previous experience managing recruitment within an HR function.
• Strong knowledge of safer recruitment and pre‑employment compliance.
• Proven ability to handle multiple vacancies and busy interview schedules.
• Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Confident communicator capable of building relationships across the organisation.

Required skills

• Experience using HR systems or Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
