Recycling Assistant (Full‑time)

About the role

As a Recycling Assistant at FCC Environment you will help deliver a safe, efficient and customer‑focused service at the New Romney Recycling Centre. Working on a shift pattern, you will support the public with waste disposal, encourage reuse and recycling, and maintain high standards across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the Recycling Centre safely and efficiently in line with company procedures and contract requirements.
• Provide excellent customer service to site users and promote recycling and reuse.
• Complete daily site inspections, record waste movements and monitor container usage.
• Carry out plant and equipment checks and ensure correct handling of chargeable waste.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and uphold site safety standards.

Required profile

• Positive, proactive attitude with good time‑keeping and reliability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work weekends, Bank Holidays and occasional shifts at other Kent centres.
• Interest in recycling, sustainability and reuse initiatives.
