Referral Surgical Veterinary Surgeon

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for surgery to join our growing referral team at Animal Trust Barnsley Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative, specialist‑led environment focused on clinical excellence, affordability, and making advanced veterinary care accessible to more pets and their owners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied referral caseload
• Deliver advanced surgical procedures and excellent clinical care
• Support referring veterinary colleagues
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
• Contribute to clinical governance and evidence‑based practice
• Mentor and support veterinary colleagues
• Help shape and grow our surgical referral services

Required profile

• MRCVS status and eligibility to work in the UK
• Advanced Practitioner status or significant referral‑level experience
• Experience in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery (including TPLO)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A collaborative and supportive approach
• A passion for affordable, accessible referral care
