Refuge Worker – Support Women in Domestic Abuse Service

About the role
We are Hestia, a charity dedicated to helping women rebuild their lives after domestic abuse. As a Refuge Worker in our residential Domestic Abuse Service in Wandsworth, you will provide intensive, person‑centred support to women living in the refuge, helping them move towards safety and independence.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver daily contact and key sessions with residents, assessing and monitoring individual needs.
- Co‑produce Support and Safety Plans that focus on strengths, goals and risk management.
- Provide advice on safety, housing, benefits, mental health, substance misuse and independent living.
- Liaise with statutory bodies and external agencies on safeguarding, social services, mental health teams and drug‑and‑alcohol services.
- Support residents in move‑on accommodation and promote empowerment through workshops and social activities.
- Follow “The Hestia Approach”, emphasizing co‑production, recovery and partnership with service users.
Required profile
- Substantial experience working directly with women experiencing domestic abuse and related complex needs.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection and risk assessment procedures.
- Understanding of welfare benefits, housing legislation and practical steps to secure accommodation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with external agencies and professionals.
