Refuse Collection Driver (HGV Class 2)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Refuse Collection Driver to join our client’s waste management team in Wandsworth. You will operate a HGV‑class collection vehicle, ensuring timely and safe collection of refuse and recycling across the assigned routes.

Key responsibilities

• Drive a refuse collection vehicle safely, holding a valid HGV Class 2 licence.
• Assist loaders during collections to keep routes on schedule.
• Collect household waste and recycling, following all health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Use in‑cab technology and mobile devices to receive real‑time route updates.
• Complete collection paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections before and after use.
• Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and equipment.
• Interact courteously with the public and other road users.

Required profile

• Valid HGV Class 2 driving licence (no more than 6 points).
• Driver CPC certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑motivated, team‑oriented and able to adapt to varied tasks.
• Clean driving record is desirable.
