Refuse Loader – Waste Collection

About the role

We are looking for a Refuse Loader to join Northumberland County Council’s waste collection team at the Cowley Road Depot in Blyth. You will help deliver a reliable waste and recycling service to residents and businesses, operating our fleet of refuse, recycling and food‑waste vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Collect general waste and recycling according to the daily schedule.
• Load and unload bins, operate hydraulic lifts and other collection equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety on streets, homes and business premises.
• Provide courteous customer service to the community.
• Work four days a week as part of the wider refuse collection team.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to meet the high physical demands of the role.
• Hard‑working, punctual and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.
• Team‑player who can follow safety procedures and represent the council professionally.

Required skills

• Operation of hydraulic equipment and related tools.
