Registered Nurse – Band 5 – Ward 310

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, passionate Band 5 Registered Nurse to join Ward 310 at Royal Derby Hospital. The ward provides a 30‑bed neurology, stroke step‑down, and general medical service, offering a fast‑paced environment where no two days are the same.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective nursing care for acute illness and rehabilitation.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medication, conduct observations, provide wound care, and monitor for clinical deterioration.
• Support patients with daily living activities while promoting independence.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in line with NMC standards and trust policies.
• Participate in admissions, discharge planning, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff, healthcare assistants, and students.

Required profile

• Qualified Registered Nurse (NMC‑registered) with experience in neurology, stroke, or general medical settings.
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, safeguarding, and risk management.
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice.
