Registered Nurse – Inpatients 1/HDU

About the role

The NHS Orkney team is looking for a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient 1/HDU unit at The Balfour Hospital. You will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care in a busy acute setting, supporting patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective nursing care in line with the NMC Code and national standards.
• Support patients, relatives and carers throughout their hospital stay.
• Take charge of shifts when the Senior Nurse is absent, providing leadership to junior staff.
• Contribute to education, supervision and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Current UK NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Strong listening and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
• Professional, patient‑focused approach.
