Registered Social Worker – Family Support & Protection

About the role
Our client, Monmouthshire County Council, is seeking a Registered Social Worker to join the Family Support & Protection team in Abergavenny. You will assess and plan for children, young people and families who need social care intervention, ensuring their health, wellbeing and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children, young people and families.
- Develop and monitor outcome‑focused care plans within set timeframes.
- Prepare written evidence and progress cases to legal proceedings when necessary.
- Collaborate with multi‑agency partners to reduce risk and vulnerability.
- Engage with courts and provide testimony as required.
Required profile
- Current registration with Social Care Wales (SCW) or Social Care England (SCE); willingness to register with SCW if not already.
- Recent experience working within the court arena.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with children, families and carers.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable individuals.
Required skills
- Registration with SCW or SCE (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience in court proceedings related to child protection.
