About the role
JD Worldwide is creating a new Regulatory & Compliance Counsel position within its International Compliance Department. Reporting to the Director of Regulation and Compliance, you will help the business manage regulatory risk as it expands across the UK and EU.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Director across multiple regulatory and compliance workstreams.
- Act as the day‑to‑day contact for business units, guiding them through regulatory matters and partnering with senior stakeholders.
- Provide advice on e‑commerce operations, including pricing, promotions, and consumer‑rights issues.
- Manage regulatory responses, enforcement actions, and regulator engagement in EU and UK markets.
- Maintain trackers and horizon‑scanning tools to keep the function ahead of obligations.
- Oversee IP and brand‑protection matters such as selective distribution, trademark, and copyright issues.
- Advise on data‑protection and GDPR compliance, embedding practical controls into processes.
- Support implementation of emerging digital and AI regulations and EU/UK consumer‑law developments.
- Assist with ESG, sustainability, trade, and customs compliance initiatives.
Required profile
- Qualified solicitor or lawyer in England & Wales or an equivalent EU jurisdiction (dual qualification is a plus).
- 3–6 years post‑qualification experience.
- Fluency in a second EU language (Spanish or Portuguese preferred; German, French, or Dutch valued).
- Background that combines contentious or regulatory work at a recognised law firm with in‑house experience at a scaled e‑commerce, marketplace, retail, or consumer‑facing business.
- Experience in regulatory enforcement, product compliance, IP/brand protection, and consumer law; exposure to data protection and emerging AI or digital regulation is advantageous.
