Reinsurance Broker - International Treaty Associate Director

About the role

Howden Re is looking for an Associate Director to help drive the growth of its International Treaty business in London. The role is central to client placements, managing proposals and handling complex reinsurance accounts, so that new business, renewals and mid-term requirements are met with the best coverage, pricing and service.

Key responsibilities

• Design optimal reinsurance broking solutions and negotiate with markets for the best quality, coverage and price
• Create and review reinsurance documentation for clients
• Mentor and support junior team members
• Coordinate project work before and after renewal and tender projects for new business, and build strong relationships with clients and underwriters
• Stay informed on reinsurance market trends and represent Howden Re professionally
• Develop and implement team strategies, identify portfolio expansion opportunities and support new business and renewals
• Take part in management meetings and oversee administrative and processing tasks while ensuring compliance with company policies

Required profile

• Proven experience in reinsurance broking, focusing on P&C reinsurance
• A-levels and/or a degree in a finance-related subject
• Professional qualifications in insurance or reinsurance are advantageous
• Ability to work independently and manage tight deadlines

Required skills

• Advanced understanding of the renewal and production cycle
• Strong understanding of reinsurance product mechanics and market dynamics
• Specific product area knowledge and in-depth understanding of related wordings
• High level of numeracy, literacy and attention to detail
• Relevant qualifications such as ACII or FCA Level 1 preferred but not required
