Reliability Engineer – Fleet Reliability (Derby)

About the role

As a Fleet Reliability Engineer you will provide technical expertise for reliability engineering across Wabtec’s rolling‑stock projects, supporting freight, transit and passenger rail assets. You will develop and manage reliability growth plans, analyse data and drive actions to meet performance and contractual targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead reliability performance by analysing data, reporting trends and implementing improvements to reduce failures and increase availability.
• Develop and execute fleet‑specific reliability growth and Product Improvement Plans, applying FRACAS and WIM processes.
• Support reliability review meetings, prioritize critical issues with engineering teams and track emerging concerns through formal processes.
• Create fault‑finding guides, work instructions and documentation to standardise the Through‑Life‑Care model.
• Provide technical guidance on reliability growth models within a matrix organisation and travel to UK sites and customer locations as required.

Required profile

• Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) plus Business/Management or Finance qualifications such as PRINCE2 or APM.
• Proven experience in fleet or technical reliability engineering within the rail industry, especially with modern passenger fleets.
• Valid UK driving licence and ability to travel to multiple sites.
• Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
