Relief Chef – Flexible Temporary Positions in Wigan

About the role

Berry Recruitment is seeking experienced chefs and cooks to provide relief cover across a range of settings in Wigan, including schools, staff canteens, healthcare facilities and care homes. These roles are temporary and flexible, allowing you to choose shifts that suit your personal schedule while covering short‑term or long‑term staff absences.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety in all work environments.
• Manage stock levels, order supplies and ensure kitchen equipment is clean and functional.
• Adapt quickly to different kitchen settings and work collaboratively with existing staff.
• Cover a mix of day, evening and occasional weekend shifts as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a chef or cook in catering or hospitality.
• Valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) for work with vulnerable groups.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Own transport is advantageous, though most locations are accessible by public transport.
