Religious Education Teacher

About the role
We are seeking a passionate Religious Education (RE) Teacher to deliver engaging, discussion‑based lessons to secondary‑school students in Bournemouth. The role involves fostering critical thinking, respect for diverse beliefs and supporting pupils through their GCSE Religious Studies.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high‑quality RE lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Teach topics covering world religions, ethics, philosophy and contemporary moral issues.
- Encourage respectful debate and analytical thinking in the classroom.
- Assess, track and report on student progress.
- Support students preparing for GCSE Religious Studies.
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities.
- Promote inclusivity, tolerance and cultural awareness.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Degree in Religious Education, Theology, Philosophy or a related subject (desirable).
- Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for RE.
- Ability to engage students in discussion‑based learning.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- Willingness to contribute to wider school life.
