Renewable Energy Underwriter

About the role

Pen Underwriting is seeking an experienced Renewable Energy Underwriter to join its Hazardous Goods & Environmental team in Leatherhead. You will use your technical expertise to grow the renewable energy insurance portfolio, working closely with brokers and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical underwriting across renewable energy lines such as anaerobic digestion, wind, solar and other sustainable projects.
• Build and maintain strong broker relationships, delivering tailored insurance solutions.
• Underwrite new and existing renewable energy business and support product innovation and pricing strategies.
• Mentor junior underwriters and stay ahead of market trends.
• Collaborate with the Head of Renewable Energy on process improvements, policy updates and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in renewable energy underwriting.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Proactive, collaborative approach and the right to work in the UK.
