Repair Technician

About the role

We are partnering with a leading engineering and equipment solutions provider to recruit a full‑time Repair Technician for their workshop in Totton. The role involves maintaining and refurbishing a diverse fleet of hire equipment, ensuring reliability and performance for commercial and industrial customers.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on chillers, pumps, motors, heat exchangers and other mechanical plant.
• Strip down, repair, rebuild and re‑assemble equipment to meet operational standards.
• Replace defective components and carry out repairs in line with quality requirements.
• Support the refurbishment programme to extend the lifespan of the hire fleet.
• Perform inspections and functional testing before returning equipment to service.
• Maintain accurate service records and workshop documentation.
• Use hand and power tools safely and keep the workshop tidy, adhering to health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Collaborate with workshop colleagues and wider engineering teams to meet operational priorities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a workshop, mechanical engineering, plant maintenance or equipment repair environment.
• Methodical approach to fault finding and strong problem‑solving ability.
• Mechanical Engineering qualification or completed engineering apprenticeship is advantageous.
