Research Scientist – Colloids

About the role

SRG is seeking two Research Scientists to join its established Colloid Science team in County Durham. The positions will support the development of innovative formulations across pharmaceuticals, healthcare, FMCG, home & personal care, food, agritech, and advanced materials.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and execute colloid and formulation experiments.
• Develop, optimise and characterise complex formulations.
• Analyse data, interpret results and communicate findings internally and externally.
• Maintain accurate scientific records and technical documentation.
• Present project outcomes to stakeholders.
• Contribute to pilot‑scale experiments and technology development programmes.
• Support business development, proposal writing and customer‑facing activities.

Required profile

• Graduates or early‑career scientists (Research Scientist 1) or individuals with several years of relevant experience (Research Scientist 2).
• BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Formulation Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline.
• Practical laboratory experience gained through university projects, placements, internships or industry.
• Strong interest in formulation technologies and product development.
