Reserving Manager

About the role

Poloworks’ Polo Managing Agency (PMA) is looking for an experienced Reserving Manager to lead reserving activities across its Lloyd’s syndicates. Reporting to the Head of Reserving, the role works closely with senior actuarial and finance leaders to ensure accurate, robust and compliant actuarial reserves and Solvency UK Technical Provisions.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Reserving in overseeing actuarial best‑estimate reserves and Solvency UK Technical Provisions for PMA’s managed syndicates.
• Liaise with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Risk Management and third‑party clients to understand business developments and challenge reserving assumptions.
• Review and challenge day‑to‑day reserving results from external providers, escalating issues as needed.
• Prepare committee papers for reserving, SUK TP, audit, risk and board committees.
• Ensure reserving deliverables meet internal and external deadlines.
• Contribute to internal projects such as process/system transformations and new syndicate onboarding.
• Coordinate hand‑over of reserving results to Finance for GAAP, Solvency UK and US SITUS reporting.
• Assist with regulator and auditor liaison on reserving and SUK TP matters.
• Ensure compliance with Lloyd’s, PRA and IFoA guidance, including Actuarial Function Guidance, Technical Actuarial Standards and Actuarial Professional Standards.
• Contribute to ORSAs and Actuarial Function Reports and maintain documentation.
• Support a robust risk‑management and control environment for daily reserving activities.

Required profile

• Non‑life actuarial experience within Lloyd’s or the London market.
• Qualified actuary (or previously progressing towards qualification).
• Strong understanding of Solvency UK Technical Provisions and related regulatory frameworks.
• Experience working with third‑party actuarial service providers and internal finance teams.
