Residential Care Worker – Bank (Children's Home)

About the role

This bank position offers flexible, on‑site work within a children’s residential home in Milton Keynes. You will join a dedicated team providing a safe, nurturing environment for young people, helping them develop confidence and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, child‑centred care and support.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Support daily routines, education, activities and life‑skills development.
• Promote positive behaviour using nurturing, relationship‑based approaches.
• Encourage emotional wellbeing, resilience and independence.
• Maintain accurate records and complete daily documentation.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people in residential care, education, youth work or a similar setting.
• A caring, patient and resilient nature.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep‑ins where required.
• Full UK driving licence (desirable).
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
• Enhanced DBS and satisfactory pre‑employment checks.
