Residential Caretaker

About the role

The Residential Caretaker will be the first point of contact for residents and will ensure the site remains clean, safe and well‑maintained. Working Monday to Friday, this full‑time position involves routine inspections, cleaning and minor maintenance across four buildings and surrounding areas.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily walk‑arounds to check order of the site, buildings and car park and report any issues.
• Rotate cyclical cleaning of all four buildings, including hoovering, dusting, polishing lifts and staircases.
• Keep the garage clear of rubbish and maintain a tidy external appearance, sweeping and clearing litter.
• Collect bins from four bin stores, place them for collection, and return them after collection while keeping stores clean.
• Act as the resident first point of contact, handling enquiries and visual checks on fire safety, drainage and security systems.
• Carry out ad‑hoc cleaning, minor repairs, safety measures and report larger issues to engineers.
• Clear accessible drainage and guttering, water gardens in hot weather and assist engineers with access.
• Place notices on incorrectly parked vehicles and support office with information when needed.

Required profile

• Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Physically fit to perform cleaning, lifting and minor repair tasks.
• Good communication skills to interact with residents and external contractors.
• Attention to detail for safety and cleanliness standards.

Required skills

• Experience with routine building cleaning and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to perform basic minor repairs and safety checks.
• Knowledge of waste management and bin handling procedures.
