Residential Childcare Worker – Children’s Homes

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Residential Childcare Worker to join our children’s homes in Preston and surrounding areas. You will provide high‑quality, trauma‑informed care for young people with emotional, behavioural, learning and autism needs, helping them feel safe, valued and supported.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consistent, person‑centred care within a residential setting for children with EBD, LD and autism.
• Act as a key worker, contributing to care and placement plans.
• Support daily routines, education, life‑skill development and independence.
• Promote positive behaviour and help young people achieve positive outcomes.
• Safeguard and advocate for young people, following all safeguarding procedures.
• Maintain accurate daily records, incident reports and documentation.
• Contribute to meeting Ofsted standards and ensuring a safe residential environment.

Required profile

• Dedicated and compassionate with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable young people.
• Ability to work flexibly on a 5‑week rolling rota (2 days on, 3 days off).
• Strong communication skills and respect for each young person’s voice and rights.
• Commitment to delivering trauma‑informed, person‑centred care.

What we offer

• Salary up to £35,500 per annum.
• 39.2 hours per week on a 5‑week rolling rota.
• Shift times 8 am – 10 pm with approximately 12 paid sleep‑ins per month (£55 each).
