Residential Support Worker

About the role

We are seeking a Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential home on the South East Coast. In this hands‑on position you will provide practical and emotional support to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, helping them to develop daily living skills and thrive in a safe, homely environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support young people with personal care, daily routines and life‑skills development.
• Plan, organise and supervise recreational and leisure activities both on‑site and off‑site.
• Assist with school attendance, including transport where required.
• Act as keyworker for assigned individuals, leading care planning and reviews.
• Administer medication when trained and authorised.
• Maintain accurate records, handover documentation and health‑and‑safety checks.
• Build positive relationships with families, social workers and external professionals while upholding safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Team‑player attitude with a consistent, compassionate approach.
• Level 3 qualification in a relevant field or willingness to obtain one.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Solid IT skills for record keeping and documentation.
