Resilience Officer – Emergency Planning & Business Continuity

About the role

The Resilience Officer will join the Planning and Performance team to strengthen NHS Borders’ emergency preparedness and response. Working closely with internal services and external partners, the role ensures the organisation can effectively manage major incidents, emerging threats and system‑wide disruptions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support emergency planning and business continuity activities across NHS Borders.
• Develop, deliver and evaluate training programmes and exercises for staff and partners.
• Coordinate post‑incident learning and embed improvements into practice.
• Provide specialist advice on resilience to internal stakeholders and external agencies such as Scottish Borders Council and the Local Resilience Partnership.
• Collaborate with multi‑agency partners to align plans and ensure a cohesive response.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education or equivalent relevant experience.
• Solid working knowledge of emergency planning, business continuity and resilience principles.
• Proven experience delivering training, leading exercises and working in multi‑agency environments.
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational abilities.
• Ability to influence, motivate and embed resilience practices in day‑to‑day operations.
