Retail Shop Manager

About the role

The Retail Shop Manager will lead the Hammersmith charity shop, ensuring smooth daily operations and delivering an inviting shopping experience. This role combines retail leadership with the mission of supporting a hospice that provides palliative care to the community.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of shop performance, including sales, stock control and visual merchandising.
• Recruit, train, schedule and motivate a team of volunteers and paid staff.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Manage donations, pricing, and inventory to maximise revenue while supporting the hospice’s sustainability goals.
• Produce regular reports on sales, expenses and volunteer activity for senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in retail management, preferably in a charity or non‑profit environment.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to the values and mission of a hospice charity.

Required skills

• Retail point‑of‑sale (POS) system operation.
• Stock and inventory management.
• Basic budgeting and financial reporting.
