RF Test System Engineering Placement – 12‑Month Internship

About the role

During this 12‑month placement you will support the Payload Prepare for Test team at Airbus Defence and Space in Portsmouth, contributing to RF and electrical testing of telecommunication satellite spacecraft products, including the NEO and OneSat platforms. You will work with RF validation, hardware and software engineers to develop and deploy test systems and support live test campaigns.

Key responsibilities

• Design and procure new test system hardware.
• Assemble, validate and commission new test system hardware.
• Write new test system software.
• Support investigations with the systems engineering team.
• Generate and validate test system parametric data.
• Calibrate and deploy test systems to the cleanroom.
• Provide test system support for live test campaigns and investigations.

Required profile

• Currently studying towards an Engineering, Science, or Production based degree.
• Must remain an undergraduate for the full placement duration.
• Basic knowledge of LabVIEW and/or Java.
• Basic understanding of Agile/Sprint methodologies.
• Strong communication, teamwork and presentation skills.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to ask questions.
