Risk Assessor – Fire & Health & Safety (Swindon/Bath/Bristol)

About the role

You will play a pivotal role in protecting residents and properties by delivering comprehensive Health & Safety and Fire Risk assessments across occupied residential environments in the Swindon, Bath and Bristol areas. Your assessments will help clients understand their legal duties, prioritize actions and demonstrate compliance with UK regulations and best practice.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site inspections of communal areas, plant rooms and external spaces, engaging with responsible persons and on‑site staff.
• Identify hazards, evaluate likelihood and impact, assign risk ratings and produce clear, prioritised assessment reports and action plans.
• Liaise with property managers, contractors and site staff to plan inspections, track remedial works and verify completion through desktop reviews and targeted re‑inspections.
• Maintain accurate digital records, photographs and compliance dashboards that withstand audit scrutiny.
• Stay up‑to‑date with legislation, guidance and industry best practice, updating templates and processes as needed.

Required profile

• Methodical assessor with strong attention to detail and the ability to translate technical findings into practical recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex risk issues to non‑technical audiences.
• Professional demeanor in residential settings, capable of handling sensitive conversations with empathy.
• Self‑motivated, accountable for workload and able to plan efficiently.
