Roadside Technician – Swindon

About the role

Join the RAC’s Patrol division as a Roadside Technician based in Swindon. You will be the first point of contact for members who need urgent vehicle assistance, working from your own driveway and covering a local area that includes Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett, Marlborough, Cirencester and Chippenham.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site mechanical repairs, battery jumps and tyre changes.
• Diagnose and resolve complex vehicle faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Deliver fast, courteous breakdown support to RAC members.
• Maintain accurate service records and complete job paperwork.
• Utilise the company‑provided RAC van, fuel card, uniform and tools.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience, or 5 years’ experience as a vehicle technician/mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points.
• Ability to work independently and manage a flexible, demand‑led shift pattern.
