Robotics Design Engineer – £60k‑£70k + Benefits

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer with a strong background in robotics to join an expanding automation company. Based in Cheltenham, you will work primarily from the workshop and office, designing, programming and building bespoke robotic solutions for industrial clients worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and program robotic handling, conveyor and vision inspection systems.
• Develop PLC‑controlled automation lines and integrate them into turnkey solutions.
• Build prototypes, assemble hardware and conduct functional testing.
• Travel internationally 4‑5 times a year to install, commission and hand over completed systems.
• Manage project timelines, documentation and client communication.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent experience in robotics, mechanical/electrical engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience designing and programming robotic systems.
• Willingness to travel abroad regularly and commute to Cheltenham.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
