Roofer – Full‑time role in Cheltenham

About the role

Join Cheltenham Borough Council as a skilled roofer, working alongside Repairs Supervisors and the Resource Planning Co‑ordinator to deliver high‑quality multi‑trade repairs and maintenance across the borough. You will be responsible for a variety of building tasks, ensuring safety and quality while supporting the council’s commitment to a thriving community.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out roofing repairs, renewals and routine maintenance.
• Perform brickwork repointing and related repair work.
• Execute plumbing repairs at height on soil stacks and waste pipes.
• Conduct exterior damp cause inspections and remediate identified issues.
• Repair and replace leadwork where required.
• Work safely at height on all assigned tasks.
• Maintain safety of assigned labourers and follow safe‑working practices.
• Manage daily vehicle, plant and materials under supervisor direction.
• Remove and reconnect household appliances as needed.
• Plan daily duties to maximise efficiency and team effectiveness.

Required profile

• Current experience in roofing with the ability to work across multiple trades.
• Full, valid driving licence and competence driving van‑sized vehicles.
• Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations and awareness of Asbestos Regulations.
• Effective communication with colleagues, tenants and the public.
• Team‑oriented attitude and willingness to support colleagues.
