Rural Planner – Senior Planning Role

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Rural Planner to join a fast‑growing consultancy that delivers planning and design services for private estates, farmers, landowners and agricultural businesses across the UK. The role is hybrid, based in Taunton, and offers a clear pathway to leadership, regional management or future office ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage a portfolio of rural planning and development projects.
• Prepare, submit and liaise on planning applications and supporting documentation.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, planning officers and other stakeholders.
• Provide commercially‑focused advice that balances client objectives with regulatory requirements.
• Support business growth by contributing to new business development and pipeline management.

Required profile

• Proven planning experience, preferably within rural, agricultural or land‑based projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence to negotiate with clients, officers and stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness and ambition to progress into senior or regional roles.
