Rural Solicitor

About the role

We are seeking a Rural Solicitor to join a leading Scottish legal practice’s rural property team on a hybrid basis. Based in Edinburgh, you will work with senior partners to advise clients on complex land, estate, renewable energy and succession planning matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on rural property transactions, including sales, purchases and leases.
• Draft and review contracts, agreements and other documents related to agricultural and land matters.
• Advise clients on land‑use, planning and environmental regulations affecting rural estates.
• Manage a caseload of clients, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services.
• Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to deliver comprehensive legal support.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in rural and agricultural law to ensure compliance.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Support business development through marketing initiatives and client events.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in Scotland with 3‑6 years of experience in rural or commercial property law.
• Proven experience in land, estate and real‑estate transactions.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication abilities.
• Client‑focused approach with a track record of building lasting relationships.
• Proactive attitude and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality service.
