S/4 Development Lead

About the role

As the S/4 Development Lead you will define, govern, and manage the custom development lifecycle, clean‑core strategies, and extension standards across Unipart's delivery portfolio. Reporting to the SAP Head of Technical Services, you will ensure that all custom development meets strict quality benchmarks, follows modern SAP extensibility frameworks, and mentors a team of developers to achieve technical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce modern SAP extensibility guidelines (In‑App and Side‑by‑Side extensions) to maintain a Clean Core strategy across public and private cloud environments.
• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Technical Developers, driving upskilling and code‑quality standards.
• Support presales by reviewing technical requirements, designing proof‑of‑concept solutions, and providing accurate effort estimates.
• Apply SAP Activate tools and Cloud ALM to govern task assignments and deployment tracking.
• Oversee day‑to‑day developer mapping, ensuring code aligns with high‑level business process frameworks.
• Assist the SAP Head of Technical Services in reviewing complex design documents and aligning automated testing frameworks.

Required profile

• Extensive SAP development experience with a proven track record leading technical teams.
• Deep expertise in SAP Activate methodology; certifications in ABAP Development, SAP BTP, or Cloud ALM are preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to architect extension strategies using modern frameworks.
• Practical experience with developer profiling tools and automated ABAP test cockpits.
• Strong communication skills to translate complex architecture into clear business value.
• Willingness to travel nationally and occasionally internationally for workshops and kick‑offs.
