Safeguarding Officer – Full‑time (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a full‑time Safeguarding Officer to join The Scouts Association’s Safeguarding Team at Gilwell Park, London. The role is hybrid, with one day per week in the office, and involves managing safeguarding, welfare and vetting cases across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Assess safeguarding allegations involving young people and adults in Scouting.
• Review leader suitability based on disclosure checks and adverse information.
• Operate in line with UK statutory guidance for adults in positions of trust.
• Provide support and guidance to senior volunteer managers on safety concerns.
• Progress referrals, assess risk and make necessary referrals to statutory agencies.
• Maintain a caseload, meet deadlines and follow procedural expectations in a fast‑paced environment.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently.
• Proactive initiative and sound judgment.
• Experience building and maintaining strategic partnerships with external agencies.
