Salaried General Practitioner (GP) – Orkney, Scotland

About the role

We are seeking a 6‑8 session salaried General Practitioner to join our friendly, forward‑thinking team in Orkney. The role covers work across four GP practices serving a combined list size of around 5,500 patients, with the main surgery based in the newly built Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall and satellite sites on Shapinsay and North Ronaldsay.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, patient‑centred primary care across the main and satellite surgeries.
• Deliver scheduled GP sessions (6‑8 per week) in a rural setting.
• Collaborate with a resident Advanced Nurse Practitioner and multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in regular team meetings, training sessions and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Qualified General Practitioner with a full GMC registration.
• Experience working in primary care, preferably in a rural or community setting.
• Commitment to delivering safe, evidence‑based care and supporting a training practice.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and diagnosis.
• Prescription management and chronic disease monitoring.
• Use of primary‑care electronic health record systems.
