Sales Ledger Assistant – Customer Account Setup

About the role

We are looking for a Sales Ledger Assistant to join our finance team in Leeds. In this front‑end position you will be responsible for creating new customer accounts, verifying documentation and performing credit checks before the accounts go live. Your attention to detail will help streamline the sales ledger process for the whole organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Set up new customer accounts and ensure all information is accurate and complete.
• Review customer documentation and carry out credit and due‑diligence checks.
• Manage new account requests from initial enquiry through to approval.
• Maintain and update customer records in the finance system.
• Monitor a shared inbox and respond to internal stakeholder queries.
• Collaborate with finance, operations and risk teams to resolve issues quickly.
• Produce reports and track new account activity.
• Support projects aimed at improving processes, systems and ways of working.
• Identify potential risks and escalate where appropriate.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience in a Sales Ledger or Accounts Receivable role.
• Strong attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to prioritise a busy workload and meet deadlines.
• Confident communicator who can build relationships across the business.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and improve processes.

Required skills

• Good Excel skills.
• Experience working with finance systems.
